Drawn from centuries-old folk melodies from the Auvergne region of France and sung in a local dialect, these 27 songs seem to emerge from the land itself, telling stories of shepherds, rivers and the slow rhythm of rural life, ‘rich with nostalgia and summer light’ (ABC Classic). Following her acclaimed Sydney Symphony debut with Sir Donald Runnicles in 2024, Chinese soprano Ying Fang returns with her ‘remarkable voice of polished delicacy, sweetness and strength without forcefulness’ (Sydney Morning Herald) – the ideal instrument to bring these exquisite pastoral scenes to life.
"Hawkes, Washingmachine & Marsh" are none other than Pete Hawkes (acoustic guitar, vocals), George Washingmachine (fiddle) and Christian Marsh (harmonica), legends on their respective instruments, three seasoned international players at the height of their powers joining forces to showcase the compositional talent of Pete’s original jazz, blues, folk and Celtic music in one and only one Oz tour. Be prepared for an onslaught in lilting Gypsy jazz fiddle, thundering Celtic reels, wailing blues harmonia and sizzling slide as these three wield their instruments of mass distraction together for the first time as one united force.
The Marvellous Hearts deliver soulful, acoustic storytelling led by Captain Bluetongue on gritty vocals and harmonica. He is backed by Carlyn Chen on expressive violin, Si Costello on steady double bass and Steve Bevis on guitar and vocals. The band draws from folk and roots traditions to craft immersive musical journeys that celebrate resilience, unity, and community. Slim Holloway croons lonesome weepers, forgotten outlaw gems, late-night cattle calls and slick city yodels all inspired by country, western and folk traditions. His original music and song arrangements bring together a broad vocal range, guitar and harmonica. Slim recently released his first solo album 'Nothing to do Today', as well as the EP 'Big Fat Broken Heart' with his regular band Slim Holloway & The Unsung Heroes.

A night of noise and escalation, this showcase tracks a distinct, heavy sonic evolution, moving from weaponised acoustic storytelling into a chaotic wall of sound. Starting with sharp, satirical folk-rock structures and dark, gothic Australian narratives as the atmosphere collapses into stark noise rock, grunge, and industrial sludge punk ending in a hotbed of frantic post-hardcore and emo math-rock, delivering a cathartic, genre-shifting release. It is a chaotic progression from folk roots to punk fury, driven entirely by local acts pushing the boundaries of alternative and experimental music.
