ABOUT THE EVENT
Jane Gillings, sculptor and the artist behind these four school holiday workshops on the 5 and 6 of October.
Jane has exhibited at Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi more than ten times, and turns discarded materials into sculpture, often with humour and word play. Her workshops are built around one idea: have fun, and make something to take home!
Monday 5 October
11am-1pm Big Pencils
Come and make some giant pencils that actually work! Using cardboard, paint, glue and other secret ingredients, children will construct an oversized pencil that definitely won’t fit in their pencil case.
2-4pm Victorian Portraits
We’ve all seen those spooky portraits of people who lived in the 1800’s, when photography demanded you sit really still so that the image didn’t blur. Thats why everyone looked so serious. No one could hold a smile that long.…
